Your water leaves something behind and you only find out when the bath mat goes orange. This shows you exactly what was in it.

A shower head with a washable filter in the handle. Rust, sediment and grit stop in the cartridge instead of landing on you — and after two weeks you pull it out and see what it caught.

  • Pleated PP cotton catches rust, sand and grit — the stuff that stains a white bath mat
  • Calcium sulfite beads behind it take out the chlorine smell
  • Narrowed outlet plate — a weak shower pushes like a proper one. Three modes, 360° head, stop button
  • Rinse the cartridge under the tap and put it back. No refills, no subscription, nothing to reorder

How the cartridge works, the full specs, and the five things this cannot do are below — read that part before you buy.

What it costs to keep running

The head is the cheap part.

Most filtered shower heads are sold the way razors are. The head is the entry fee, then a cartridge turns up every month or two for as long as you own it.

To be fair about it: some of those heads do more than this one does, and some carry certifications this one doesn't have. That's written out further down the page, in plain words. This is only about what it costs to keep a filtered shower running once you have bought it.

What it actually does

Three things, and we can show you all three.

No claims about your skin, your hair or your health. Just the parts you can see happen.

01 · Catches

Rust, sand and grit

A pleated PP cotton element sits in the handle and traps the particles your pipes shed — the orange-brown stuff that shows up on a white bath mat. It collects in the cartridge where you can see it.

02 · Reduces

The chlorine smell

Calcium sulfite beads sit behind the cotton layer. They react with free chlorine in the water, which is the standard way this is done and the reason the shower stops smelling like a public pool.

03 · Pushes

Harder, on less water

A narrowed outlet plate raises the pressure at the nozzle, so a weak shower feels like a proper one. Three spray modes, a 360° head, and a stop button for when you’re soaping up.

How the cartridge works

Two layers, one chamber, no refills.

1

Water enters the side of the handle

It has to pass through the cartridge before it can reach the spray face. There is no bypass.

2

PP cotton takes the solids

Sediment, silt and flakes of rust get held in the outer layer. This is the part that visibly discolours.

3

Calcium sulfite takes the chlorine

The bead core handles what the cotton can’t — the dissolved chlorine you smell rather than see.

4

You unscrew it and rinse it

Twist the clear chamber open, run the cartridge under the tap, put it back. No cartridge subscription, nothing to reorder.

The honest bit

What it will not do.

  • —It is not a water softener. If you have hard water, you will still get limescale on the glass and the tiles. This filter changes what comes out of the head, not the mineral content of your supply.
  • —We make no claim about your skin or hair. Plenty of shops selling these do. We are not going to, because we cannot prove it and neither can they.
  • —It is not certified for heavy metals or bacteria. It has no NSF certification and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a sediment and chlorine filter.
  • —The body is chrome-plated ABS, not solid brass. That is why it weighs 260 g and costs $44.90. The face plate is stainless, but we are telling you what is under the plating.
  • —How fast the filter browns depends on your pipes. Newer plumbing, less to see. If your cartridge is still white after a month, your water was already fine — send it back.

Before you ask

Questions we actually get.

Will it fit my shower?

If your current head unscrews by hand from a standard arm or hose, yes. It uses the G½″ thread that virtually every shower in the US is built around. Hand-tighten it with the washer, no tools and no plumber. If yours is a fixed rain head plumbed into the ceiling, this replaces the handheld, not that.

How often do I clean the filter?

Look at it after two weeks. If it has gone yellow-brown, rinse it under the tap and put it back — that takes about a minute. After that you will know your own interval. Older pipes might mean monthly; newer plumbing might mean twice a year.

Do I have to buy replacement cartridges?

No. The cartridge is washable and that is the whole design. Eventually the cotton will pack down and stop rinsing clean — think a year or two of ordinary use — but there is no subscription and nothing arrives in the post every month.

Will it make the water pressure worse?

The opposite, in most homes. The outlet plate narrows the flow and raises the pressure at the nozzle, which is why it also uses less water. The one case where pressure drops is a filter that has been left dirty for months — that is the cue to rinse it.

What if nothing happens?

Then your water was already clean and you should not be paying us for it. Thirty days, send it back, we refund it. That includes the case where you simply did not like it.

Two weeks from now you’ll know.

Unscrew the chamber, hold the cartridge up, and see whether your water was worth filtering. If it wasn’t, we’ll take it back.
